Coal, natural gas and oil accounted for 87 percent of the world's primary energy consumption last year. The U.S. total global energy consumption has raised from 23.8 to 23.9 percent, coal also increased, from 29.7 to 29.9 percent, as demand for coal-fired electricity remained strong across much of the developing world, including China and India, and parts of Europe. In 2012, China alone accounted for more than half the world's total coal consumption, mostly for electric power generation.
Instead of buying more coal, natural gas and oil we should be funding things like solar powered energy. That alone would decrease a large amount of the coal, natural gas and oil Americans use each year. As results the earth will cool down a few degrees and would most likely save Americans billions of dollars each year. To make things better it the environment isn't affected as much any more, lowering smog, CO2 etc..
