A new way to create baking soda!
In Texas they have discovered how to decrease the pollution in our air and turning it into baking soda. The equation is CO2 + H2O + NaCl —> NaHCO3 + H2 + Cl2 and there you have baking soda. They use a carbon capture plant to capture and store the carbon. This will be completed in 2014 and will capture around 83,000 tons of direct CO2 emissions and create around 160,000 tons of bicarbonate, preventing 300,000 tons of emissions.
This week in class we read an article about fertilizing the sea so researched some carbon articles and found this! By what I've read there are scientist out there who care strongly about the CO2 that pollutes our airs. It's about time we attempted to clean up the mess we made.
